Did you know that the food that you consume on a daily-basis is not completely natural? You will know about this and much more by the end of this article; Like, merits and demerits of addition of Digital tech. in agriculture.

In earlier times, the crops weren't enough appetizing or empirical. That is because during that time if wasn't feasible. For ex. The banana you eat now a days is very fruit-bearing, but it wasn't possible in earlier times. A banana used to be very small, bitter and contained lots and lots of seeds, it was only with the help of Genetical modification of crops that we were able to create such a marvellous feat.

Banana - New vs Old

The new tech is changing everything and every-sector for the good. Same applies for agriculture. Farmers, are now-a-days upgrading their styles of husbandry. They use Drones, to spray insecticides and pesticides on their fields.

The new-generation of farmers are not-willing to pick fruits by hand the old fashioned way, insted they want to sit in a Harvesting-Machine. Digital tech. has made it much easier for farmers at large scale to keep track of crops, animals, labourers etc.

But, People are concerned. The new-age agricultural practices are not good for that nature. For example, in earlier times, after a season of farming was completed the farmers let the field rest for a year or so and attain, it chemical properties(Nitrogen etc.). Farmers these days, to maximize profits, don't let it rest, which is leading to a long-term quality deteoriation of the fields that we have and the lack of nutrients present in the soil are also affecting the quality of the food that we get. It is a serious problem but nobody is ready to discuss about it and it is very crucial for the sustainability of humans. If recent trends continue, the number of people affected by hunger would surpass 840 million by 2030. According to the World Food Programme, 135 million suffer from acute hunger largely due to man-made conflicts, climate change and economic downturns.
